University of Hargeisa recognizes the 29th of December in each year as the research day of the University and the researches conducted by the University in the ending year is presented. The main purpose is to highlight the importance of research and encourage researchers.
This year, the event was held at the University and three researches were presented. The President of the University Dr. Mohamoud, The Vice president Mr. Mustafe Khadar, the Director of Research and Community Outreach Mr. Warsame Mohamoud, and the Director of Academic promotion and development Mr. Abdirashed all attended the event. Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire, Somaliland Minister of Finance Development, and other guests were also invited to the event.
Mr. Warsame Mohamoud provided brief information about the researches that the University did for the last 4 years and the challenges faced. He told that the University did more than 20 researches since 2017 and there are others still going on. The president and the vice president encouraged the academic staff of the University to do researches and ensured that the University is determined to be the center of research in the Horn of Africa in the near future.
Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire congratulated the University and stated the government will financially support the University in doing costly researches which are beneficial to society. Lastly, Certificates of appreciation were given to all that made contributions to these researches.
