About The Academic Program Development & Promotion Directorate

Background:

The Directorate of Academic Program Development and Promotion has undergone significant changes and many developmental reforms in the past seventeen (17) years. Currently, the university offers 32 undergraduate programs, 9 Master’s programs, and short courses in various fields of study.

The academic units offering these programs are the Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, College of IT and Computing, College of Engineering, College of Law, College of Business and Public Administration, College of Medicine and Health Science, College of Applied and Natural Science, College of Education, College of Social Science and Humanities, Hargeisa School of Economics, Gaariye Institute of Somali Studies and Literature, Institute For Peace and Conflict Studies and School of Postgraduate Studies.

The Directorate is responsible for all academic matters including the initiation, coordination, and supervision of all the academic plans and programs of colleges, schools, centers, and institutes of the university. The Directorate is also accountable for faculty development with collaboration from the College of Education and the Directorate of Research and Community Services.

  • To recruit, train and promote qualified lecturers
  •  To initiate and coordinate the implantation of the reviewed curriculum
  • To create and sustain a conducive environment for teaching and learning processes
