The University of Hargeisa has sent 5 lecturers to Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia to pursue Ph.D. programs. This is part of the University’s goal to accomplish its 2024 plan to have at least 20 Ph.D. scholars operating at the University of Hargeisa. The University previously succeeded to give a Ph.D. partial scholarship to seven prominent scholars who had Master’s in Peace and Conflict Resolution and completed their Ph.D. from the United Nations University of Peace. The university also ensures the attainment of the national education sector strategic plan which states that each University in the country should have at least 15 Ph.D. holders by 2025.
The University of Hargeisa strives to provide a quality education that suits the needs of the people and adopts the circumstances of the changing world. The number of Ph.D. candidates has grown rapidly in recent years and now the total number is fifteen but the number is still raising and new candidates are expected to emerge very soon. The University by utilizing its cooperation with many Universities and organizations around the World has succeeded to give all of them except one, a scholarship and monthly allowances. All of the doctorates will operate in the School of graduate studies and also be researchers in their respective fields at the University.
